Gabriela Guzman began working with Kegel, Tobin & Truce in 2011. She represents insured employers and their carriers in the defense of matters before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board.
Experience: Ms. Guzman began her legal career as a law clerk with the firm of Sachs & Hess in Northwest Indiana where she focused on issues of family law, medical malpractice, and personal injury. While in law school, she was a legal intern for the Civil Clinic at Valparaiso University School of Law. As an intern for the Civil Clinic, she represented clients in domestic violence disputes, landlord/tenant issues and family law. She went on to work as an independent contractor at the firm of Munoz & Guizar, APC, where she collaborated on cases related to labor and employment law, as well as immigration law.
Prior to joining Kegel, Tobin & Truce, Ms. Guzman was employed as an Associate Attorney with the firm of Hayford & Felchlin, LLP, where she gained valuable experience in the field of workers' compensation. Subsequently, her workers' compensation experience was further developed as an Associate Attorney at the Law Offices of Daniel P. Goggins, where she represented employers, insurance companies, and third-party administrators throughout the State of California in all aspects of Workers' Compensation defense, including California Labor Code Section 132a defense.
Education: Ms. Guzman earned her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Political Science from Pepperdine University in 2001. She received her law degree from the Valparaiso University School of Law in 2008.
