Alan D. Bennett began working for Kegel, Tobin and Truce in 2008. He defends all types of workers' compensation matters before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board on behalf of self-insured employers, insurance companies and governmental entities.
Experience: Mr. Bennett began his legal career as in-house corporate counsel for Star-Kist Foods (a subsidiary of Heinz Co.) in 1977. His first Workers' Compensation defense position was as House Counsel for Employers Insurance of Wausau in 1978. Since that time he has worked for various house counsels and private firms in Workers' Compensation defense. However from 1984 to 1985, Mr. Bennett was employed as an Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands.
Prior to joining Kegel, Tobin & Truce, Mr. Bennett was employed as a Deputy City Attorney for the City of Long Beach in the Worker' Compensation Division.
Education: Mr. Bennett earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Southern California in 1973. He received a law degree from Loyola University School of Law in 1976. Mr. Bennett was a Certified Specialist in Workers' Compensation through the California State Bar from 1993 through 2008.
